DEFINED BENEFIT SCHEME

This is the final salary ‘Defined Benefits’ or ‘DB’ section of the Plan. It closed to new members on 30 September 2002 and closed to future accrual of benefits on 30 September 2009. This means that with effect from 1 October 2009 it was no longer possible for members to pay contributions and build up more benefits under the DB Plan.

When the DB Plan closed, all eligible active employees were invited to join the ‘Defined Contribution’ or ‘DC’ section of the Plan.
